Hi!

I’m Toby Goodman

Start

As a professional drummer/percussionist since the late 90s, I travelled the world playing for a Rolling Stone, A Bee Gee, A Spice Girl, and more TV Talent show winners (and losers) than the press can remember. I discovered how to support world-class performers from rehearsal prep through to the show.

Between tours and when I was on theatre shows in London, I taught music at universities. This is where I learned to communicate about performance.

Transition

To gain more control over my own time, I started my first company with a friend to run a high-end events band. That’s where I discovered the difference between being a freelancer and running a business.
I learned the importance of forging relationships with suppliers, maintaining loyalty from contractors, and… client selection!
Along the way, I uncovered a specific way to use podcasts to scale expert-led small businesses. Then people asked me to teach them how.

2020/21
I ran a US-founded podcast post-production company and started advising clients on how to use podcasts to get the results they needed, from business coaches to physicians and former government leaders.

2022
I published my best-selling book ‘Narrow Podcasting’ and my course, ‘The Profitable Pod Method’ which means I can help more professionals avoid vanity traps and use podcasting to serve and scale their organisations.

2023/25
I worked privately with CEOs in science, law, healthcare, and even two astronauts!
Harnessing the power of podcasting helps to grow their businesses, influence, and authority.

2024/25
Created media and marketing strategy as the CMO of The Charles F. Bolden Group and its associated non-profit - the Inter Astra Institute (Creating access to the business of space).

I worked on a 2nd edition of my book, created a vault of podcasting skills sessions, whilst with a handful of clients in the healthcare, space, education, and coaching industries.

2026
I’m committing to doing more in music, including some playing and returning to limited teaching.

I’ve found continuing to engage with music really helps to feed my business brain from a creative standpoint and my spirit from an emotional one.

As an advisor, I’m focused on supporting healthcare professionals.

Some Kind Words From Clients…

In 2019 I started my Podcast. I thought, “how hard can it be?” Well, you don’t know what you don’t know so I proceeded to create a proper turd. I ended up trashing the whole thing. Then Toby stepped in. The difference has been night and day.

Toby guided me, my brand, and content systematically, methodically, and creatively.  Without a vision, a product will perish. Toby first helped me hammer out a vision, understand my audience, create and execute a strategy, develop disciplined habits, and most importantly grow. Our podcast has nearly doubled in downloads in the last three months. I went from discouragement to enthusiasm.

I find myself looking forward to the meetings with Toby. Not only do I always learn something, I get to laugh and have fun. Toby has a great sense of humor—a hallmark of creativity—but also keeps me focused on the big vision.

The Podcast is the singular reason that we signed a contract with a statewide organization. The CEO became a fan of the podcast and immersed herself in our content each morning on her commute. There was no typical sales cycle in closing that deal. Just a phone call and an offer.

“I was blown away on just what a good handle Toby had on the things I wanted to achieve. He immediately gave me practical tasks that drove things forward in a meaningful way. He’s added value and given me the kick up the backside I needed to get my business and strategic thinking onto the next level”.

— Howard Cooper | Therapist | London, UK

“So many others I hired got it wrong or didn’t come through.
I started my podcast under Toby’s guidance and it’s been
nothing short of miraculous. There’s nobody better I’ve ever worked within this realm”

— Mark J Silverman | Host of Mastering Overwhelm Podcast, Executive Coach | Washington DC, USA

“I knew his solution was perfect. But the one thing I didn’t bargain on was how good his strategy chops were. He’s phenomenal at that stuff”

— James Eager | eBassGuitar.com | London, UK

A wonderful human being.”
